Where, O death, is your sting?” ![]() When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed- in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. He says, “Be still, and know that I am God I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”ġ Corinthians 15:50-57 “I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear he burns the shields with fire. He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. Come and see what the Lord has done, the desolations he has brought on the earth. The Lord Almighty is with us the God of Jacob is our fortress. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall he lifts his voice, the earth melts. God is within her, she will not fall God will help her at break of day. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. Psalm 46:1-10 “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. I will strengthen you and help you I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you do not be dismayed, for I am your God. Still, as we attend the funeral of a believer, though it may be a celebration of a life well-lived, we will mourn and miss our loved one until we are once again reunited with them in Heaven. It will be a home-coming, a celestial celebration, if you will, where we will stand before His throne in hopes of hearing our Saviour say, “Well done, good and faithful servant! Come into your eternal rest.” ( Matthew 25:23, 34) For we who depart this world knowing our eternity is secure through the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, there is no weeping or sorrow. ![]() As Christians we should live with eternity in our sights.
